MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has directed the government agencies to provide urgent medical assistance to the victims of twin blasts in Baidoa.
Over 17 died and 50 others injured on Saturday afternoon when two suicide bombers separately attack a hotel and restaurant in the town centre.
In a statement, the president has condoled with the families of the victims killed in the blasts.
“We belong to God and to Him we shall return. I extended my condolences to the families and relative whose love one’s martyred in the heinous attacks perpetrated by Al-Shabaab terrorist,” the President said in the statement.
He called on Somali people to stand by the families and victims of the attack.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the twin blasts in Baidoa town is a key economic center about 250 kilometers (155 miles) west of the capital, Mogadishu.
The group which had been controlling town for four years was driven out by Somali forces supported by Ethiopian troops.
