MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday arrived in Mogadishu for the first since last year when he lost the presidential election to the incumbent president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
Mr. Mohamud was welcomed at Adan Adde International Airport by ministers, lawmakers, and senior government officials.
Speaking to the media, the former president said he arrived in the country to assess the situation the nation.
“I am happy to be back in Mogadishu after 18 months that I have been away from the country,” he said.
He pointed out that he will tour all the regions of the country discuss with the public on the matters affecting the country.
“Not only that I came to Mogadishu but I will visit all other regions to engage with all people in those areas,” he stated.
Mr. Mohamud was the eight president of the country from September 2012 until February last year.
