NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – A fact-finding committee from Kenya police set up by Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has grilled five people over the attack on a Former minister of Garissa county.
On Sunday, Mr. Idris Aden Mukhtar was shot in the head and left for dead outside a hotel in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
A team was on Wednesday set up and visited the scene of shooting as part of the shooting of former finance CEC for Garissa County.
The team met with five individuals whose names were not displayed to the media.
The outcome of the interrogations with these people by the team pursuing the case has not been yet publicised.
The DPP’s office Tuesday directed the Director of Criminal Investigations to immediately commence investigations to the circumstances that led to the shooting with a view of apprehending the culprits.
Fear of reprisal attacks
Tension is brewing in Garissa Town over possible retaliatory attacks following the attempted assignation of a former finance CEC Idris Mukhtar who served in the former Nathif Jama’s government.
“There are many speculations on how and why the man was attacked and this may lead to bloody retaliation. We hope police move with speed and get those behind it irrespective of their status,” said a family member of the victim told Standard Media based in Nairobi.
Nairobi deputy police boss Richard Kerich said they are investigating the motive and those behind the incident.
Mukhtar is in critical condition following the shooting incident.
“The victim is in hospital but with injuries in the head. We don’t know the motive of the incident,” he said.
