ABUDWAQ (Halbeeg News) – Somali forces have seized a deadly cache of weapons on Sunday after the forces launched security operations in Abudwaq town of central Somalia.
The local authorities in the town have directed a joint force comprising of Police, NISA (National Intelligence and Security Agency) forces and military to conduct operations to secure the town.
According to locals, early Sunday morning the forces started inspecting the vehicles and people on the streets of the town.
Dozens of the forces in military fatigue could be seen in several streets of the town.
Speaking to the media, the commander of Abudwaq Stablization forces, Abdirashid Hassan Warsame said the forces recovered weapons during the operations in the town.
While displaying the weapons to journalists in his office, Mr. Warsame said the public shared valuable information that led to the recovery of weapons.
Mr. Warsame pointed out that the forces dismantled illegal roadblocks mounted by gunmen on the outskirts of the town.
“The Stabilization forces comprising of NISA, police, and military seized five Ak47 ruffles during the operations. Two were recovered from gunmen outside the town and the other three from the town,” he stated.
The commanders did not mention whether the forces apprehended suspects during the inspection.
Finally, he called upon the local resident work with the police to secure the town.
