AFMADOW (Halbeeg News) – Kenya’s Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) on Monday destroyed a Hormuud Telecom communication mast located Alibuley village, 25km South of Afmadow town.
The destruction of the centre disrupted communication in several areas including Gerileey, Daya’a-Garon, Diif, and Daru-Salam.
According to sources in the area, the forces who crossed the border into Somalia destroyed the mast and went back to their country.
The disruption of communication, residents lament, would hamper businesses.
Neither Somali government nor the local authorities in area commented on the attack by Kenyan forces.
Kenyan Anti-terror Unit activities in the region have persisted in the towns in the last few months, according to residents.
Late last month, Kenyan forces destroyed a communication mast in Elwak using Fighter jets, paralysing mobile communication in the area.
