MOGADISHU (Halbeeg) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Saturday morning left the country for a three-day state visit to Eritrea.
The plane carrying President Farmajo departed from the Adan Adde International Airport shortly before 10 am and was seen off by several government officials.
During his visit, the President will hold bilateral talks with the host President Isaias Afwerki among other engagements.
Talks between the two leaders will also focus on matters of relations of two countries especially restoring defunct diplomatic relations of the two countries.
Speaking to the media after the president, the Director of Communications at the office of the president, Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed the horn of African Nation share a historic relation.
“The two people of Somalia and Eritrea share historic relations. The visit of the President will open doors for new diplomatic relations and corporations,” Ahmed said.
The two nations have not had diplomatic relations for close to two decades.
