MOGADISHU (Halbeeg) – Somali Foreign Minister, Ahmed Issa Awad on Thursday received Qatar’s ambassador to Somalia at his office in Mogadishu.
Qatar’s Ambassador Hassan Bin Hamsa Asad who paid call courtesy on the minister had conveyed a message from Qatar’s foreign minister to Mr. Awad.
The two leaders discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a statement, the ministry said the minister and the ambassador also talked about the security issues of the region.
The ambassador handed over keys of an Armoured Personnel Carrier which will be used by the ministry to carry out its duties.
Qatar is one of Somalia’s political and an economic ally.
The Gulf country provided millions of USD in aid and investments in the recent year
Following last year agreement between Somalia and the government of Qatar, the Gulf nation will soon implement $200 million deal that will go towards the reconstruction of roads and government institutions.
