GARBAHARE (Halbeeg) – Suspected Al-Shabab fighters have reported abducted two district officers in overnight attacks in Gedo region.
Heavily armed Al-Shabab fighters simultaneously attacked Shatalow and Adaley towns under Luuq district of Gedo region.
Sources say the fighters kidnapped Abdullahi Kusow Mohamed and Ahmed Omar who are the administrators of Shatalow and Adaley divisions respectively.
Al-Shabab also made away with a vehicle belonging to the administrator of Bakale village after the official fled from the village prior the raid.
It is not yet clear the motive behind the abduction of these leaders in spite of the positions that they are serving for the Federal Government of Somalia.
Al-Shabab has been carrying out assassinations to eliminate individuals working for the Somali government.
The group which wants to overthrow the Somali government has been fighting the Somali military for over a decade.
