ADDIS ABABA (Halbeeg)- The government of Eriteria plans to reopen its embassy in Addis Ababa next week after relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea has been restored.
Following the historic visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Asmara, the two nations restored phone lines and also pledged to resume direct flights.
Ahmed Shide, Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office of Ethiopia who spoke Ethiopian state-owned media said Eritrean embassy in Addis Ababa will be reopened next Monday.
“Eritrean embassy in Ethiopia will go operational on Monday,” said Shide.
Confirming the visit of Eritrean President Isaias Afeworki to Ethiopia on Saturday, Shide pointed out that at the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy, President Isaias will arrive in Ethiopia for a 3-day state visit.
According to Shide, preparations have been finalized to warmly welcome the Eritrean delegation led by President Isaias.
During its three-day stay in Ethiopia, the delegation will visit the Hawassa industrial park, located in the SNNP regional state
Last Monday, the two nations signed agreements to resume diplomatic ties and open a new chapter of cooperation and partnership after 20-year of a military standoff.
