Lawmakers of Somalia’s federal parliament of Somalia have begun two months recess on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
The speaker of the federal parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman announced that the third session of the parliament is officially closed.
According to a statement shared the president and the cabinet ministers were notified that the third session of the federal parliament of closed on 10th July.
The members of the House are expected to resumed their operation on 1oth September after the end of the recess, according to the parliament leadership
The members of the parliament are expected to visit their respective constituencies during the recess so as to assess the situation of their people.
During the third session of the federal parliament, the lawmakers have approved several bills including telecommunication bill, and unanimously voted for a bill banning UAE owned company, DP world from operating in Somalia after signing a controversial deal on Berbera port with Somaliland and Ethiopia.
