Mogadishu (Halbeeg)- Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has commended the government of Djibouti for its role to support Somalia good governance.
Last week, Djibouti government dispatched delegates to Mogadishu to attend Somalia’s Independence day which took place on 1st July.
In a send-off ceremony held for Djibouti delegates, Somali President said the two countries share ethnicity, culture and religion.
“On behalf of the Somali government, I appreciate your decision to attend the 58 anniversary of our independence and the day the South and northern regions merged to form Somali republic,” Mr. Farmajo told the delegates.
Djibouti had hosted several Somali reconciliation talks since 1990 when Somalia plunged into anarchy after the fall of the central government led late Mohamed Sitar Barre.
The tiny horn of African nation hosted reconciliation conference that culminated in the formation the government led by former President Abdiqassim Salad.
Neighbouring Djibouti sent hundreds of its troops under the umbrella of AMISOM to help Somali government fight against Al-Shabaab.
