The president of Jubbaland state, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has on Wednesday hosted Iftar dinner for the national independent constitutional and constitutional review oversight commission in Nairobi the capital Of Kenya.
President Madoobe asked the commission to verify the alleged stolen constitution and accelerate the completion of the constitution that will lead to permanent constitution of Somalia and replace the provisional constitution adopted in 2012.
The remarks of Jubbaland president comes just less than two weeks after the federal government of Somalia launched three days constitutional review process in Mogadishu.
The convention which was attended by over 350 delegates and representatives from federal states, civil society from all walks, federal government and Diaspora community was officially opened by the prime minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Kheyre.
Jubbaland state has not attended the conference citing that they were not aware of the event.
Speaking to Goobjoog News, Aden Hersi, Jubbalnd constitutional affairs minister said that state will not be attending the conference stating, ‘We have not been given any information about it.
The new constitution is expected to be ready in 2019 before the country holds a ‘one-person, one-vote election’ in 2020.
Mid April, the first deputy speaker, who is also the acting speaker of the Parliament Abdiweli Ibrahim Muudey said that the original copy of the Somali Constitution that was voted by the Somali delegates was stolen.
Mudey stated that the original draft which was approved by the delegates has gone missing.
