At least seven people were killed on Monday when a landmine struck donkey-cart they were riding on, on a road in central Somalia.
The incident occurred at Ag-mudey village which lies about 7 kilometers west of Bula-burde town of Hiran region.
Bula-burde district commissioner, Abdi Dahir Gure said among the victims were a mother and her four children.
“The blast took place in Ag-Mudey village which is located seven km away from Bula-burde town, it killed a mother, her brother, her four children and a Quranic teacher, they were back from Bula-burde town heading to their home when the landmine hit their donkey-cart,” Gure told Halbeeg news.
The commissioner condoled with the bereaved the family members of the victims.
Gure blamed Al-Shabab fighters of behind the attack saying the group buried landmines in the area to target allied forces.
The tragic incident comes a week after Somali forces backed by AMISOM troops started operations to re-open and secure the road linking Beledweyne and Bula-burde towns.
