Lower House Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawaari on Sunday nodded the motion against him saying the proposition can be tabled before the parliament within ten days.
Addressing the media this afternoon Jawari noted that the motion against him has met quorum threshold.
“The no-confidence motion is now accepted and it should be tabled before the House within 10 days as per the regulation of the Lower House,” said Jawaari.
The speaker dismissed reports claiming he was to resign saying “I am here according to the law and will leave in accordance with the same law.”
He affirmed that he would hand over the office in a peaceful process if the proposition is endorsed.
“I organized peaceful transfer of power between the presidents; I want the same process as I did not come here by force. I stay in this office by ballot and I will leave by ballot,” he assured.
The speaker was at loggerheads with most of the MPs and some members of the cabinet and Prime Minister Hassan Khaire.
The speaker’s remarks come as President Farmajo started mediating the two heads of the executive and legislative arms.
