Security conference to discuss a comprehensive approach to security in Galmudug State has on Sunday kicked off in Dhusamareeb town.
Galmudug chief minister, Sheikh Mohamed Shakir opened the conference which convened ministers and commanders of security forces.
The officials will discuss wide range issues which include means to improve the security, the fight against Al-shabab, restoration of peace in the state and among others.
According to Galmudug state officials, the conference will run for three days as the participants are expected come up with new strategy to defeat Als-habab fighters which control vast areas in Galmudug.
The conference is be the first of its kind held in Dhusamareeb since Galmudug state and Ahlusuna Waljama’a merged and formed one regional state early this year.
Leaders from Galmudug state and Ahlusuna Waljama’a penned a political power-sharing pact aimed at unifying the factions that had clashed several times since inception of the state.
The deal gave Ahlusuna Waljama’a the position of the state’s first chief minister.
For the first time since the inception of Galmudug state in 2014, the state’s flag was hoisted in its designated capital, Dhusamareeb which was under the control of Ahlusuna before it reached power-sharing agreement with Galmudug
