GARISSA (Halbeeg News)-Al-Shabaab destroyed two Safaricom communications masts in two villages in Garissa county, northern Kenya.
Two separate attacks which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday nights targeted the telecommunication masts in Galma Gala and Girgo villages respectively, according to a local legislator.
Abdikarim Osman, a member of county assembly, said about ten al-Shabaab suspects had executed the raids in Garissa County.
“There are two attacks which took place in two consecutive nights at nearby villages. One occurred in Galma Gala and the other in Girgo, so we had no injuries, but the suspects destroyed the masts prompting communication cut off,” he said.
He accused the security forces in the area of failing to act on time to avert the attacks.
The incidents come a month barely after al-Shabaab suspects stormed a complex building in Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi.
The attack which occurred at Dusit D2 claimed the lives of 21 people.
