MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Security Agencies are investigating a foreign national found with a suspicious package at Mogadishu International Airport on Sunday.
Security officials at Aden Abdulle International Airport alerted the police after they discovered suspicious items in the suitcase of the foreign national whose names and nationality has not yet been released.
The case was handed over to the national intelligence agency (NISA) for more investigation.
The move comes barely a day after Somali military court sentenced two men to life in prison for masterminding a bomb attack on a Daallo Airlines passenger plane in February 2016.
Eight other people, including a woman, were sentenced to between six months and four years in prison.
The blast, shortly after take-off from Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, killed the bomber and left a hole in the plane’s fuselage.
