GAROWE (Halbeeg News ) – Somali minister for Planning Jamal Mohamed Hassan has been elected MP in a by-election in Garowe town beating his only competitor Mohamud Abdullahi Mohamed.
Mr. Hassan got 49 votes out of a possible 51 to clinch the seat which fell vacant following the quit of Dahar Ali Farah, who resigned from the post after he was appointed as Somalia’s consul in Djibouti.
Minister Hassan previously served as a senior official at the U.S diplomatic mission in Nairobi, Kenya before promoting to the country’s country’s ambassador to Kenya where he has been serving until Prime Minister Hasan Ali Kheire appointed him as minister for planning.
