BOSASO (Halbeeg News) – Bossaso councillors have voted in their mayor in a largely peaceful election on Thursday following weeks of a campaign for the mayorship of the city which lies 1390 km northwest of Somali capital.
Abdisalam Bashir Abdisalam emerged the winner after amassing 28 votes against his sole challenger Mohamed Farah Haji Mire who managed 03 votes.

The poll conducted at City Hall was presided over by officials from Puntland state.
Mr. Abdisalam was a head teacher at a school in Bosaso town before he joined the city council
The election of Bossaso mayorship comes five months after Puntland president Abdiweli Ali Gaas disbanded Bosaso city council.
Late last month, Garowe Council Assembly has elected Ahmed Barre Ahmed as the new mayor of the town.
