The chairperson and former Presidential candidate of Somaliland’s main Opposition Party, Wadani, Abdirahman Mohamed Irro has called for the resignation of Somaliland President, Muse Bih following what he term the betrayal of the nation.
Speaking to the media, Irro accused Bihi and his predecessor, Ahmed Siilanyo of treachery of Somaliland people over the port agreement inked with the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Berbera port and military was signed by Somali federal government but he [ Bihi] claimed that Somaliland has signed the Berbera Port and the Berbera Naval Base pact, with the UAE government, Siilanyo violated the constitution , he betrayed people of Somaliland therefore he ought to be prosecuted,” said Irro.
He said Bihi should step down and call for fresh elections.
“President Bihi must resign and seek forgiveness from the people for the traitorous act or we shall sue him.” he vowed.
The remarks of Irro comes a day after UAE state minister of foreign affairs Mr. Anwar Gargash who spoke to BBC Somali service disclosed that Emirati government had discussed the Berbera concessions with the Federal Government of Somalia.
