BAIDOA ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The speaker of Southwest state parliament ambassador Ali Saed Faqi accompanied by the commander of Somali National Army 60th battalion General Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi and southwest regional state house director Ibrahim Baafo met with US military officials in Baidoa, the interim the administrative capital of the state.
The discussions focused on US support to Somali security forces based in the state against the fight on the armed group al Shabaab.
The two sides also stressed the need to establish a forward operating base that will also double up as a training facility for Somali special forces Danab and other troops in the region to intensify offensive against the terror group.
The speaker of Southwest state parliament ambassador Ali Saed Faqi thanked the Americans for their continued support to the Somali military in dismantling and degrading al Shabaab militants.
The US has a considerable number of military advisers that provide training to Somali armed forces in their fight against the armed group al Shabaab.
