US has publicized on Friday that it has killed three Al-Qaeda linked Al-shabab fighters in an airstrike carried out in Southern Somalia.
AFRICOM said in a statement that the bombardment occurred outside Jilib town in Middle Jubba region.
AFRICOM also stated that they carried out the airstrike together with the federal government of Somalia adding that there were no civilian casualties during the attack.
The statement also confirmed that one vehicle mounted with heavy machine gun was destroyed during the bombardment against Al-shabab fighters.
“ In coordination with federal government of Somalia US forces conducted an airstrike against Al-shabab militants near Jilib, Somalia, the afternoon of April 5 killing three terrorists and destroying one vehicle mounted [ with] heavy machine gun” the statement reads.
“ We asses no civilians were killed in this airstrike” the statement adds.
Since US president, Donald Trump authorized expanded military onslaught against Al-shabab, the aerial raid against the group has increased.
