MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The United States government has called upon the leadership of both the Federal Government of Somalia and those from Federal Member states to exercise compromise to decide on the model of elections.
Washington stressed the need for wider consultations between various stakeholders and the federal parliament in order to agree on the contentious issue during a scheduled meetings in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug state.
“The US embassy in Somalia is eagerly waiting for Dhusamareb three Meeting results. The need for wide spread and genuine compromise is key.” The embassy tweeted on Thursday.
The US government further underlined that there should be no mandate extension as it jeopardizes already tangible developments made in the security and economic sectors.
“The election model needs broad-based support from FGS, FMS, Parliament, & other stakeholders. Timely elections, no mandate extensions in Somalia.”
According to the Minister for Justice Salah Ahmed Jamaa, the Federal government in coordination with officials from Galmudug state are involved in the organization of the upcoming meeting.
