US airstrike killed four members of Al-shabab in Southern Somalia barely a day after it eliminated three of group’s fighters.
A statement issued on Thursday evening from the US Africa Command says the attack took place on 21st of this month in Jamaame district of Lower Jubba region.
“In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike against Al-Shabaab militants on Feb 21, in the vicinity of Jamaame, Somalia, killing four (4) Al-shabab,” Africom said in the statement.
Africom vowed that U.S. forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect Americans and disable terrorist threats.
“This includes partnering with AMISOM and Somali National Security Forces (SNSF); targeting terrorists, their training camps and safe havens throughout Somalia, the region and around the world,” the military noted.
The attacks comes less than 48 hours after US air raid killed three Al-shabab fighters in Jilib of Lower Jubba region.
Somali forces backed continental troops have stepped up operations against the group following executive order by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo early this month.
