At least three civilians were wounded on Sunday morning when unidentified warplanes reportedly attacked El-Adde town of Gedo region.
In 2016, over 200 Kenya soldiers were in the town after heavily Al-Shabaab fighters overran the forward operating base.
There was no immediate confirmation of which country was involving the attack though Somalia’s allied countries led by the United States government recently stepped up aerial bombardments against Al-Shabab militants in the South and Central Somalia.
Residents who confirmed the incident said the planes hit civilian residential houses.
“The bombardment took place at around 7am in the morning. The planes targeted houses owned by civilians. The attack wounded three civilians including a child,” said a resident who sought anonymity.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabaab statement posted on its affiliate media said the attack caused civilian casualties.
The group also posted on its social media photos of the attack showing wounded children.
The town is currently under the control by Al-Shabab fighters who took over the town after Kenyan forces withdrew from the town.
