NAIROBI ( Halbeeg News) – The United Nations and the government of Kenya will host a two-day regional conference on counter-terrorism at the United Nations Office in Nairobi.
The conference scheduled from 10th to 11th July is seeking ways of eliminating terror threats from the region.
The African Regional High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism and the Prevention of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism will bring together heads of government and ministers of interior, security, and foreign affairs from the region, according to the United Nations.
The conference will also be attended by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as well as heads of counter-terrorism agencies, in addition to international organizations, civil society and leading think tanks to address the terrorist threats in the continent.
According to the organizers, the conference will enable African leaders to share good practices in countering terrorism.
Regional countries such as Somalia, Kenya, and Uganda are facing security threats from armed group al-Shabaab.
The Al Qaida linked group carried out deadly attacks in Mogadishu, Nairobi, and Kampala.
