LONDON (Halbeeg News) – The prime suspect of UK lawmaker murder is the son of Harbi Ali Kullane, who once served as the senior communication advisor to former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke.
A 25-year-old, Ali Harbi Ali was arrested in connection with the murder of Sir David Amess, 69, a senior Conservative Member of Parliament of Southend West.
Amess was stabbed several times to death, an attack that shocked many Somalis in the UK.
The father of Ali told the media that the attack has left him “traumatized.”
“I’m feeling very traumatized. It is not something I expected or even dreamt of,” Kullane told The Sunday Times on Saturday from his sister’s North London home.
Ali is being taken into custody and his case is handed over to the anti-terrorist Scotland Yard, according to Kullane visited the suspect.
Somali community leaders in London said they were also shocked and saddened to hear about the murder of British MP David Amess.
Over two dozen of the UK’s leading Somali community groups signed a joint statement that condemned the “callous act.”
“We express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Sir David Amess’s family, loved ones and his constituents. Everyone who knew Sir David Amess described him as ‘one of the kindest, most compassionate, and a distinguished public servant’ who committed and devoted to serving his community. Sir David Amess promoted our shared values of tolerance, love and respect that make Britain so great.”
