MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – UK ambassador to Somalia, Ben Fender has today met representatives from the private sector in Somalia’s capital city, Mogadishu.
In a Twitter post, the embassy said the ambassador has discussed with the representatives on several issues.
Among the issues discussed are challenges facing the sector.
“@benfenderfco today held meetings with private sector representatives in #Somalia to understand the constraints & opportunities of doing business,” the tweet reads in part.
The embassy lauded Somalia’s private sector for helping rebuild the country that was plagued by two-decade-old civil war.
“The private sector has a crucial role to play in supporting long-term inclusive economic growth and prosperity,” the embassy stated.
Somali private sector could lead to an economic recovery which potentially could alter Somalia’s current political trajectory through entrepreneurship and economic development.
