MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Two employees of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) have been relieved of their duties after they allegedly took and used photos of deputy chief of Somali Intelligence agency.
The personal Assistant of Micheal Keating, the former UN envoy to Somalia, Nabouru Fernandes has reportedly taken photos of Fahad Yasin, the deputy director of Somali Spay agency without his consent.
Mr. Fernandes indicated that he sent the photos to Mr, Nuradin Diriye, a senior political advisor to the envoy who later posted the photos on Social media.
The motive behind taking the photos of Mr. Yasin who was recently appointed to serve as deputy director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and posting them on social media still remains unclear.
Reliable sources told Halbeeg News that two officials were sacked after they confessed that they used the photos of Mr. Yasin without his will.
It was reported that Mr. Nabouru Fernandes was detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after he was found capturing unconsented photos of Somali officials aboard on Qatar Airways.
In a number of countries, consent is needed for just taking a photograph of one or more identifiable people, not to mention publishing it and/or using it commercially even if the person is in a public place.
