JOWHAR (Halbeeg News) – At least two regional lawmakers were wounded after a hand grenade hurled at lawmakers who were walking along one of the roads in Jowhar town.
According to witnesses, several regional MPs who returned from fifth Hirshabelle state anniversary ceremony, were attacked with the grenade by unknown assailant.
The bodyguards of the MPs reportedly opened fire after the explosion. The bullets fired by the soldiers reportedly caused no casualties.
The wounded lawmakers who are identified as Abdirahman Iidow and Mohamed Dhere are currently undergoing treatment at one of the hospitals in Jowhar.
Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack, saying their fighters targeted the MPs.

The group also attacks military convoys traveling along Mogadishu-Jowhar Road.
Jowhar town is about 30km north of Mogadishu.
