MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Türkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to continue mediating tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia.
The delegates from the neighbouring countries are expected to hold the second round of talks in September.
During a call with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday, President Erdogan assured that Türkiye will continue its efforts to mediate and resolve the tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia.
Erdo gan underscored the importance of cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia.
The President highlighted the ongoing partnership between the two nations, according to a statement by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.
On his side, President Mohamud said Somalia is ready to “engage in economic and development cooperation with Ethiopia.”
“Such partnerships must always respect Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and adhere to international law and norms,” Mohamud said.
