The government of Turkey will rebuild the Somali parliament which was ruined during the civil that broke out in 1990.
Speaking to the state owned media, the speaker of Somali parliament, Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari confirmed the renovation of the parliament premises saying Turkish government pledged to spend $100 million dollars to build the house of people.
“The amount to spend on the rebuilding of this premises is not easy, it is $100 million. We don’t have that amount but Turkey has pledged to rebuild it,” Jawari said.
In an interview, the speaker noted that the first phase of the construction will be spent on $60 million.
” The construction of seven-storey building is planned to begin next year and its first phase will cost $60 million,” the speaker hinted.
He pointed out that the building will have an office for every MP and the staff of the parliament.
“Once the construction of the building is completed, it will be enough to host international conferences. The apartments of the seven-storey will be able have offices for every MP and other staff members of the parliament,” Jawari boasted during the interview with SNTV.
