Turkey has sent assessment delegates to Southern Somalia heads of major plan to invest areas in Jubbaland state.
The delegates led by Turkish ambassador to Somalia, Olgan Beker reached Golweyn village which is fishing and agricultural town.
Beker and his delegation discussed with Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Madoobe on the plans to invest the town.
Speaking to the media, president Madoobe said Turkey has been an important ally of the country in terms of investments and that Somalia was attractive for investors.
President Madobe pledged to collaborate with the businessmen and companies from Turkey so as to give them a room to invest his regional state in Southern Somalia.
“We welcome our brothers from Turkey to invest this town [Goobweyn] as the mouth of River Jubba and other Jubbaland areas as well. The town is good for fishing and agriculture. we will collaborate with them,” said Madobe.
For his part, ambassador Beker stressed that the government of Turkey is ready to invest the region as well Somalia.
” We came here [Goobweyn] for assessment, my government is committed to invest and take part the re-building process of this ( Somalia)” said Beker.
“We are ready to give any kind of support in order to ensure Somalia’s resources are used in its economy,” he added.
Since 2011, Turkey has implemented several projects including construction of road, building schools, health faculties and military base in Somalia.
