MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The Turkish embassy in Mogadishu joined the nation to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the proclamation of Republic on Tuesday.
The event which was hosted by ambassador, Mehmet Yilmaz at the diplomatic mission invited senior Somali government officials, the speaker of the Lower House of Somali parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh and his Upper House counterpart, Abdi Hashi, cabinet ministers and some of the members of the diplomatic core in the country.
The speaker of the lower house of Somali parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh congratulated Ankara for the anniversary while appreciating Turkish development role in the rebuilding and reconstruction process of the horn of the African nation.
On his part, the speaker of the Upper House, Abdi Hashi reiterated the significance of the historic strong diplomatic ties between Somalia and Turkey that has been growing since the visit of Rajjip Tayyip Erdogan on August 2011 for humanitarian mission.
President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo also wished his Turkish counterpart, Rajap Tayyip Erdogan and citizens happy anniversary.
The head of state said the two nations share centuries old historic ties and a brotherhood.
“On behalf of the Federal Republic of Somalia and on my own behalf, I hereby wish the great citizens of the Republic of Turkey with whom we share centuries old historic ties and a brotherhood we dearly hold, a happy 96th Anniversary” Farmajo tweeted.
