MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Turkish government has voiced solidarity with Somali government and its people in the fight against terrorism.
In a statement on Friday, Turkish foreign ministry condemned suicide tricycle bomb explosion outside a restaurant near the port in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
“We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack. We offer our condolences to the brotherly Somali people and the government, we wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the wounded,” said a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
The medical official said 20 people were confirmed dead and 30 others wounded.
“Our teams on the ground confirmed the death of 20 people and 30 others were wounded,” said the director of Mogadishu’s Aamin ambulance service, Abdikadir Abdirahman.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack via radio Andalus, saying they attacked security officials’ meeting point. The restaurant was also attacked last October.
Al-Shabaab which lost the control of the capital in 2011 following military offensive by SNA, still carries out bomb attacks in Major towns in Somalia. The group conducts raids on military bases in south and central Somalia.
