MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Turkish government has condemned twin bomb blasts in Mogadishu on Saturday.
According to Commander of the Police General Bashir Abdi Mohamed, the blasts killed nine people and 25 injured.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said it sad about the explosions carried out by terrorists in the city.
“We received the news with deep sorrow that the terrorist attack perpetrated in Mogadishu, resulted in the loss of many lives and left several others wounded,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry extended condolences to the families of the victims.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack, wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, a speedy recovery to the wounded and extend our condolences to the brotherly people and Government of Somalia,” the statement read.
The first attack targeted a security checkpoint near the parliament building.
Majority of those injured were said to be civilians happened to be near the scene at the time of the blast.
Security forces have intercepted the second VBIED which exploded while the driver was being questioned at K4 junction.
The police confirmed the arrest of the suspect in connection with the second car bomb.
Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attacks saying it targeted government forces.
