MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Saudia Arabia and Turkey have condemned Monday’s bomb attack in Mogadishu which claimed lives of over ten people.
A car laden with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) exploded in a busy shopping mall.
In a statement, Turkey’s foreign ministry has commiserated with the victims of the blast.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack. we wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, wish a speedy recovery to the wounded, and convey our condolences to the brotherly people and government of Somalia,” the statement reads in part.
In a separate statement, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince has sent condolences to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on the explosion.
“I have learned of the news of the explosion which took place at a shopping centre in the capital Mogadishu and resulted in a number of deaths and the wounded. As I condemn this cowardly criminal act, I express my sincere condolences to Your Excellency, the families of victims and the people of the Federal Republic of Somalia, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery,” Prince Mohammed said.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group frequently carries out bombings in Mogadishu and other parts of the country to topple the internationally recognized Somali government.
