MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The outgoing US president Donald Trump is likely to order the withdrawal of US soldiers.
According to report carried by New York Times, Trump is expected to order the U.S. military to withdraw troops from Somalia.
U.S has unknown number of soldiers in Somalia who mainly carry out trainings for SNA soldiers.
The paper reported that soldiers will be withdrawn from the horn of Africa nation by the time he leaves office in January, using the end of his time in power to significantly pull back American forces from far-flung conflicts around the world.
As per The New York Times report, the plan under discussion to pull out of Somalia is said to not apply to U.S. forces stationed in nearby Kenya and Djibouti, where American drones that carry out airstrikes in Somalia are based, according to officials familiar with the internal deliberations who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
US military mission in Africa had been carrying out airstrikes to weaken al-Shabaab for the past ten years.
