MOGADISHU (Halbeeg) – Somali security forces have arrested official from Somali ministry for humanitarian affairs over corruption allegations.
Nepotism, favoritism, bribery, the public fund and aid embezzlement have been a commonplace across all sectors just before Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire declared war against corruption last year.
Dahir Mohamed Nur who is the director of the minister was apprehended during an overnight raid on his house.
According to sources, Nur has been accused of corruption charges and abuse of the office.
Unconfirmed reports say the office of Nur received $84,000 from the ministry yet it rendered no services.
The ministry has not yet commented on the arrest of the official and the charges levelled against him.
Last year, PM, Khaire pledged that his government will tackle corruption and vowed to make the fight against misconduct a non-negotiable principle in his administration.
