Southwest state has been struggling to uproot long chain of Al-shabab sleeping cells which conducted several attacks in the administrative capital of the state.
In collaboration with federal forces and AMISOM troops, Southwest state has seized several villages in Bay and Bakool regions.
The state also managed to convince the former Al-Shabab deputy leader, Mukhtar Robow and dozens of his loyal militia to defect from the group, a heavy blow to Al-shabab operatives and its leaders.
Robow’s militia in collaboration with Southwest state forces are engaging operations to recapture the remaining villages in the state from Al-shabaab.
