Somali Ministry for Internal Security has dismissed reports claiming the existence of several women who allegedly inject auto-rickshaw drivers with contaminated blood.
The Spokesman for the minister, Abdiaziz Hildhiban said through investigation the security agencies confirmed that there was any red alert about the allegations.
“After thorough investigations, the officials came to the conclusion that the allegations were unfounded,” said Hildhiban.
He warned people against disseminating false allegations against Somali women.
“I also confirm after probing the most recent incidents related to the allegations that the so-called women injected Auto-rickshaw drivers with unknown substance, we have found no concrete evidence,” he confirmed.
The remarks comes just a day after the police detained a woman suspected of injecting an auto-rickshaw driver with allegedly contaminated blood but later was freed without condition.
The rumours sparked demonstrations conducted by the irate drivers of Auto-rickshaws who were complaining the incident.
The protests which took place along Maka Al-mukarama road curtailed the movements of people and transport in the area.
