GALDOGOB (Halbeeg News) – The former commander of a notorious detention center in Jigjiga, capital of the Somali region, Hassan Ismail Ibrahim has been arrested in Somalia on Sunday.
Hassan Dheere who was arrested in Goldogob in Mudug region of Somalia was handed over to Ethiopian authorities.
He is now being held in Jigjiga police station and will face charges in court according to acting regional police commander of Ethio-Somali state.
Thousands of prisoners were tortured and abused including rape, sleep deprivation, and beatings during his leadership at the notorious facility.
The facility was shut down later by Ethiopian authorities last year following reforms made by Abiy Ahmed led government that comes to power following a protest last year.
