MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News)-At least ten people were confirmed dead when car laden with explosives packed near popular mall in Mogadishu went off on Monday morning.
An unspecified number of other people were wounded in the attack.
The scene of the blast is adjacent to the office of the governor of Mogadishu.
Part of the mall and surrounding premises nearby including restaurants were damaged.
Armed group Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility of the attack immediately in its online publications.
The group said they targeted officials from the Mogadishu municipality and senior security officers in the explosion but claimed cannot be independently verified.
The attack comes just one week after similar car bomb went off in a restaurant located near the national theatre, two people were killed and scores others were injured.
