GAROWE ( Halbeeg News) – UN special envoy for Somalia, ambassador James Swan held talks with Puntland state of Somalia leader, Said Abdullahi Deni on Sunday.
The two discussed issues related to economic development, democratic reforms, and security.
Ambassador Swan congratulated Puntland’s leader for the recent successful investment conference and the operation of the Ethiopian Airlines flight in state.
He said the move signals economic improvement in Puntland and applauded commitment to economic and social development, and to democratization.
The UN envoy urged the regional state to work with federal government towards achieving consensus on issues of critical importance including priorities for 2020 include completion of the constitutional review; organization of national parliamentary elections; achievement of debt relief; and advancement of security gains against Al-Shabaab.
Swan said the progress on national issues requires an inclusive, sustained dialogue across all segments of society and at all levels of government – especially between the Federal Government and Federal Member States.
On his part, President Said Abdullahi Deni pledged to works towards close cooperation between two levels of government in Somalia whereas resolving political stalemate in Jubbaland state.
