MOGADISHU (Halbeeg) – An ISIS suspect, Jama’a Hussein Hassan has been charged in Somali military court with planning to attack a checkpoint manned by Somali forces outside Mogadishu.
Appearing before Judge Hassan Ali Nur on Saturday, Mr. Hassan was charged with counts of conspiracy to commit a terrorist act and supporting a terrorist group.
The prosecutors said Hassan was Al-Shabaab member before he moved to join ISIS affiliate group in northern Somalia.
According to the prosecutors, he has been a member of the group for three years and he was among ISIS fighters sent to Mogadishu to execute assassinations and bomb attacks in the capital city.
The police said investigations showed that the suspect was in constant communication with the group and office confiscated camera and wires andĀ IEDs from his house.
The court concluded the hearing of the case and the case against the suspected has been fixed for verdict later.
Hassan was arrested in April this year by the security forces following security tips off by the public in Afgooye town.
