WAJIR ( Halbeeg News) – Suspected al-Shabaab fighters have raided a village in Wajir County near Kenya’s border with Somalia.
According to sources, the fighters raided Qorfa-Harar village before making way with rifles and ammunition.
The residents also confirmed the group abducted two Kenyan police reservists from the village.
Wajir County government has not commented on the attack and the abduction of the officers.
The development comes barely a day after four al-Shabaab suspects killed in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kenya’s coastal region.
The four suspected to have been trying set up the IED when it went off prematurely.
Lamu security operation director Joseph Kanyiri said the security forces visited the scene and launched an investigation.
Al-Shabaab which has been attacking Kenya since 2011 uses IEDs to attack the security of the East Africa nation.
The group tries to pressure Kenya to withdraw its forces from Somalia.
Kenya deployed its military in Somalia in 2011 to fight al-Shabaab.
