KHARTOUM ( Halbeeg News) – Al-Jazeera office in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, has been closed following a directive by Sudanese authorities
In a statement published on its website, the station said the Sudanese Transitional Military Council on Thursday ordered the security forces to shut down Al-Jazeera office.
The station said the authorities of Sudan revoked the work permits of its staff members.
“The decision also includes the withdrawal of the work permits for the correspondents and personnel of the Al-Jazeera network starting from now,” said the station.
According to the statement, Qatari broadcaster stated no written decision was given to the bureau’s director.
“They told us that the military council had decided to close the Al-Jazeera network’s office and withdraw its license,” Al-Musallami Al-Kabbashi, the director of the station’s Khartoum office told AFP.
The Sudanese authorities have not yet officially commented on the reason behind the closure of the station’s office in Khartoum
