Mogadishu Stabilization forces recovered illegal weapons following a security operation in Warta-Nabadda District.
One suspects were arrested during the operation as another one is on run.
Recent months the capital has felt relative peace following security operations in and around the city.
Two AK-47 rifles and several bullets were recovered during the dusk raid in Hamar-Bile neighbourhood.
Speaking to the media after the weapons were displaced at Warta-Nabadda Police Station, the district commissioner of Warta-Nabadda, Zainab Habsey said the forces acting on a tip-off from the members of the public nabbed suspected.
“The security operation conducted by the Stabilization Forces nabbed one of two suspected with guns in Hamar-Bile suburb. The other suspected dropped his gun and escaped, the forces are still on his heels,” said Habsey.
Benadir Deputy governor, Mohamed Abdullahi Tulah who spoke at the scene has commended the Stabilization Forces for their commitment to restore the stability of the city.
“In fact, the security can be tightened if cooperated. Without cooperation, these forces cannot do anything. I commended the cooperation between the commissioner, the police commander, and the forces,” he lauded.
He called on the public to collaborate with the local authorities and the forces to stepped the security of the city.
“I urge the public to work hand in glove with the administration and security agencies in their respective areas to tighten the security of Mogadishu,” said Tulah.
