At least five farmers have been killed and four other sustained injuries in the outskirt of Afgooye town after unidentified special forces launched an operation in the area.
Officials in Afgoye town, 30km South West of the Somali capital, confirmed that the attack occurred at Moalimka village located 16 kilometres outside Afgoye town in lower Shabelle region.
The officials said the forces were supported by gunships flying over the village.
Security officials who addressed the media said Al-shabab fighters were killed adding that they have arrested three people who sustained injuries during the planned attack.
The United States Special forces have been conducting operations against Al-Shabab fighters since last when U.S. President Donald Trump had passed a directive intensifying attacks against the group in Somalia.
Somali government has not yet commented on the attack in Moalimka Village.
The raid comes less than days after U.S. drones hit Al-Shabab controlled village in Lower Shabelle region.
The missiles have reportedly caused damage in the area.
Residents have so far confirmed the death of a local farmer identified as Mohamed Noor Hashi.
