BAIDOA (Halbeeg News) – The newly elected President of the Southwest state of Somalia, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed held talks with the local authorities in Hudur; the headquarters of Bakol region on Sunday.
Mohamed had also separate discussions with different parts of the society including the youth, women, business and religious leaders.
The leader pledged to consider the implementation of good remarks put forward to his administration by the various sections in the community during his tour in Hudur town.
He vowed to work towards the liberation of towns still controlled by the group Al-Shabaab and reopen the main supply routes (MSR) in the region.
“I thank the people of Bakol region for the warm welcome extended to my delegation; we promise that our administration will annihilate Al-Shabaab from the region and reinstall the economic infrastructure,” he said.
There is a humanitarian crisis in the Bakool region after Al-Shabaab sanctions on major towns of the region.
In October 2017, Al-Shabaab seized Tieglow, a strategic district which links Bakol and Hiran region.
The former energy minister who was elected as regional president on 19th December has embarked on a visit in the state to meet various communities before the formation of a cabinet
